Welcome to the 2026
Area 6 Championship

On behalf of Area 6 and the Talladega CMP Marksmanship Park, we thank you for participating in the Masterpiece Arms 2026 Area 6 Championship presented by POV Nutrition.

This match carries special meaning. Held in September, twenty-five years after the attacks of September 11, 2001, each stage honors an operation, battle, or outpost from the Global War on Terror. The men and women who served in these engagements gave everything. We ask you to carry their memory with you as you shoot.

Please take a moment to tap the ★ Operation History button on each stage card to learn the story behind the name.

Thank you to our sponsors; their generosity makes this championship possible. Visit their booths, support their businesses, and thank them for their commitment to the sport.

Shooter's OPORD — Stand By to Copy

1. Situation

  • Friendly Forces: 427 competitors descend on CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park, September 9–13, 2026, for the Masterpiece Arms 2026 Area 6 Championship presented by POV Nutrition.
  • Enemy Forces: 14 stages populated by Cardboardians and Steelzoids, hostile elements of cardboard and steel composition. Threat level: high. Rules of engagement: two rounds per target, Comstock scoring (Stage 1: Fixed Time).
  • Terrain & Environment: This match is held in September in Alabama. Expect heat, sun, and humidity. Limited shade on the range. Hydrate before, during, and after. Water provided at each bay. Seek shade between stages.
  • USPSA Membership: You must be a current USPSA member before the commencement of the match in order to compete. PractiScore will automatically update competitor classifications prior to the match; verify your division and class are correct in PractiScore before arrival. Last-minute changes to division or power factor must be made at registration before your match begins.

2. Mission

  • Competitors will engage 14 stages across CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park, September 9–13, 2026, firing a minimum of 326 rounds (400+ recommended), in order to determine the 2026 USPSA Area 6 Champion.
  • All stages are scored Comstock except Stage 1 (Fixed Time). This is a sanctioned Level III USPSA event operating under the most recent edition of the USPSA Competition Handgun Rules.
  • Range opens at 0700. Report to your first stage no later than 0830. Shooting begins at 0900; no formal shooters' meeting. Briefing is conducted at your first stage. ⚠ NO SHOTS BEFORE 0900 — CMP RANGE RULE, NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Shoot-Through: Shoot-through privileges cannot be accommodated. Competitors must compete according to the published squadding schedule. A competitor not present at the scheduled time and date for any stage may not attempt that stage without prior approval of the Range Master. Failure to shoot a stage at the scheduled time results in a zero for that stage (Rule 6.5.1). If an entire squad is present and all competitors and staff agree, the squad may start a stage early.

3. Execution

  • Cold Range. Firearms may only be handled in a designated Safety Area, the Test Fire Bay, or under direct RO supervision. Safety areas are for bagging/holstering, dry fire, and repair only; no ammunition, snap caps, or dummy rounds allowed. Open containers of alcohol are not permitted on the range at any time.
  • Eye and hearing protection are mandatory for all competitors and spectators at all times on the range. No climbing on berms or props.
  • PCC: Carry vertically (muzzle up or down). Chamber flags installed until instructed by RO. Staged in bays or carts, muzzle toward backstop/side berm. "Cased" = sleeve covering muzzle past trigger guard. Failure to point muzzle safely during casing/uncasing = DQ.
  • Test Fire Bay: Open 0900–1700 daily. No shots before 0900; anyone found shooting before 0900 will be escorted off the range.
  • Stage Procedures: When a squad is scheduled to shoot a stage, no other competitors are permitted on that stage. If range staff are present, ask permission to walk the stage. If no staff are present, you may walk but you cannot touch any targets, activators, or props. When a squad assembles at the scheduled time, the RO will deliver the stage briefing followed by a five-minute inspection and question period. Only competitors assigned to that stage may negotiate obstacles during inspection. The on-deck competitor alone may additionally negotiate obstacles while the previous competitor's targets are being scored. Early inspection is permitted only if a squad is not currently on the course of fire. Do not operate any moving targets or props; all props are off-limits at all times.
  • Scoring: This is a paperless match. Scores are recorded on tablets. The competitor or their designee must press Approve on the tablet after each run. Rule 9.7.3 will be enforced to ensure match integrity. Scorelogs will be provided via email. Unofficial results will be posted to PractiScore continuously throughout the match; final official results will be posted to the USPSA website. If you detect an error in provisional results, file an appeal with the Stats Officer within one hour of results posting; appeals submitted after that window will be dismissed. Submit appeals to [email protected].
  • Competitor-reset match. Your assistance in resetting stages is required and greatly appreciated.

4. Sustainment

  • Water & Facilities: Complimentary bottled water in each bay. Restrooms near main parking lot; portable toilets near stages throughout the range.
  • Registration: Check-in is at the CP (stats building) on the range. Registration hours: Thursday, open upon conclusion of the staff match (est. 1500); Friday, 0800–1700; Saturday, 0800–1700.
  • Parking: Park only in designated competitor parking areas. Competitors starting on Stages 10–14 may park on a space-available basis in the designated parking area for those stages. • Awards: Trophies and plaques are awarded per Appendix A2 of the current USPSA Competition Rules. Level III minimums: 10 competitors per division, 10 per class within that division, 5 per category within that division. Awards will be presented at the awards ceremony at the CMP Clubhouse following the conclusion of the match on Sunday.

5. Command and Signal

  • Check-In: All competitors must check in at the CP (stats building) on the range before reporting to their first stage. You will complete and sign a CMP waiver form. If you have certified ammunition to declare, the declaration form and 8-round sample are surrendered at check-in at this time.
  • Chronograph: Procedures follow Appendix C2, with a minimum of eight rounds collected per competitor. Chronograph is conducted in conjunction with Stage 1. Competitors may also be selected at random for a second chrono check and must return to chrono before the end of their match day.

CALL SIGN: SKI
UNIT: Charlie Co., 1-155th Infantry
TF: 2/11 ACR
ROLE: Executive Officer
KIA: 31 OCT 2005 — Iraq
CAUSE: Buried IED — Route Cleveland, Haswah

"Ski held Charlie Company together. Not only through his actions as a fighting Executive Officer, ready and eager to leave the wire (his boots were dirty) but also through the subtleties of his character helping us to cope with this experience of combat."

"Having been enlisted before commissioned, he knew each one of us first as a man then a soldier. He could relate to who we were beneath the camouflage."

"To diminish life based on the events of one day would be to diminish Ski's love of the living. Ski would have it no other way than that we continue to live. To live. To delight. To fight this enemy. To win one for the greater cause of being an American soldier."

— CPT Andrew H. Robertson, Commander, Charlie Co., 1-155th Infantry
Memorial Service · FOB Kalsu, Iraq · 02 NOV 2005
// OPERATION ACCOUNT

On 31 October 2005, 1LT Oneto-Sikorski was killed in action while clearing a danger area along Route Cleveland near Haswah, Iraq. He was conducting the timeless Infantryman's task: going first, finding the threat before it could find his men. A buried, underground IED ended his life. He was the Executive Officer of Charlie Company, 1-155th Infantry, Task Force 2/11 ACR, a Mississippi National Guard unit already carrying the weight of Hurricane Katrina on the home front while fighting a war abroad.

In the days that followed, Charlie Company went back. The operation named in his honor targeted and neutralized the individuals responsible for his death, prosecuted over two days in the same terrain where he fell. This stage is named for him.

Stage Rotation by Squad & Day

Field Operations — Zone Structure & Stage Flow

Two shooting zones divide the range: Zone Alpha covers Stages 1–7 and Zone Bravo covers Stages 8–14. Competitors shooting a split-day format will remain within their assigned zone for that shooting period; you will not cross zones during a single session.

Stage flow is continuous and circular within each zone. Your squad will proceed from your start stage through the remaining stages in order, wrapping around within the zone until all stages are complete. Example: a squad starting on Stage 13 will shoot 13 → 14 → 8 → 9 → 10 → 11 → 12, then be finished for that session.

Bay skipping is intentional. The rotation has been optimized for flow and efficiency; some bays will be bypassed and returned to later in the session. Follow the rotation as published and watch for signs on each bay identifying the stage number. Do not freelance the order.

Once shooting for the day is complete, vehicles must be immediately moved to allow the next group of competitors to park. Please move your vehicle before you begin walking stages.
